Twitter has changed hands. Under the leadership of Elon Musk, the future fate of this social media company is not yet known. Even the big boss of Twitter himself said he didn't know anything about it.
As reported, Elon Musk officially acquired Twitter for $44 billion in cash. Following this announcement, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal told Twitter employees that the company's future was uncertain.
But he promised Elon Musk will speak for himself in front of employees and also answer their questions. Agrawal seemed to avoid questions such as possible layoffs and others and said it should be asked directly to Elon Musk.
"When this deal is finalized, we don't know where this platform is going. I believe when we have the opportunity to talk to Elon Musk, he should answer this question," Agrawal said, quoted by CNBC.
For now, he promised no employees would be laid off following Elon Musk's acquisition. The company's operations are still running as usual.
Of course, there will be changes happening on Twitter. Elon Musk himself promised to make Twitter a place for free speech for anyone.
"Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of democracy, and Twitter is the digital city square where what matters to humanity's future is debated," Musk said in the statement.
"I want to make Twitter better than ever by improving the product with new features, making the algorithm open source to increase trust, defeating spam bots, and authenticating all humans," added Elon Musk.
