The Kemenpora National Sports Achievement Improvement (PPON) review team revealed that all contingents from various sports (sports), including esports experienced downsizing by 43.3%. Indonesia itself, will only send six match numbers and eliminate the other four.
Moch Asmawi, Head of the PPON review team, explained that this was done after reviewing it for various reasons. Some of them have no track record of achievement, no chance of medals and have organizational problems.
Therefore, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) itself, chose to make budget efficiency. The goal is to be able to focus better, facing the 2022 Asian Games and 2022 Olympics, according to a statement received by us, Tuesday (5/4/2022).
This is what prompted the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PBESI), to cancel the participation of four match numbers in esports. Here's the list:
4 Matches Canceled from Vietnam Sea Games
Arena of Valor
League of Legends PC
League of Legends Wild Rift Men
League of Legends Wild Rift Women
This was previously conveyed by Ibnu Reza Pradipto, Head of the Indonesian National Team, who gave several points regarding the four match numbers on Instagram. Where according to him, not only electronic sports, but a total of 14 sports did not go.
"There are mechanisms and rules applied by the Menpora through the PPON review team, which consists of sports experts, academics, KOI, Koni to assess and determine numbers/sports. So it is not the authority of PB ESI in determining the departing numbers," said Ibnu.
He explained that international sporting events, such as the Sea Games and Asian Games, use the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). So there are limits and binding rules.
"So PB ESI cannot dispatch independently, due to the rules and policies of the Ministry of Youth and Sports," he concluded.
