Elon Musk has officially bought Twitter for $44 billion. Not long after, the richest man in the world was quipped by Jeff Bezos via a tweet on Twitter.
Bezos quoted New York Times reporter Mike Forsythe as saying that whether Tesla's business interests in China meant the Chinese government would have influence on Twitter through Musk.
"Interesting question. Did the Chinese government just have a bit of influence over the town square?" Bezos wrote in his tweet, as quoted from The Verge, Tuesday (26/4/2022).

This Bezos quip was posted shortly after Musk tweeted about the criticism he's received and free speech on Twitter. "I hope that my worst critics stay on Twitter, because that's what free speech means," Musk said.
Bezos seems to have responded to Musk's challenge and immediately gave his scathing criticism. The Amazon founder isn't the only person to question, comment on, or criticize Musk when he bought Twitter. But unlike most people, Bezos is the owner of The Washington Post and is the second richest person in the world.
Musk's purchase of Twitter is expected to be smooth and resolved without problems with regulators. But seeing Bezos quip about influence from foreign governments and with his billions of dollars, Mackenzie Scott's ex-husband could be trying to complicate the transaction.
But it wasn't long before the Amazon founder changed his mind and posted two tweets to ease the heat.
"My own answer to this question is probably no. What might happen in this case is complexity in China for Tesla, rather than censorship on Twitter," Bezos tweeted.
"But we'll see. Musk is very good at navigating complexities like this," he continued.
