Nurmengard Castle is located in the Austrian Alps, and serves as a magical prison. Originally, this castle was built by Grindelwald to hold back his enemies. In addition, Nurmengard castle also served as a base of operations for Grindelwald and his followers.
In the end, the castle was used to imprison Grindelwald himself after losing to Albus Dumbledore in 1945.
