WhatsApp has been accessible to all users for free. But it looks like WhatsApp will start making money by setting up a paid service for business accounts.
The existence of this WhatsApp paid service was revealed by tipster WABetaInfo. Currently the service is still being developed and will be available in the WhatsApp Business application for Android and iOS.
This paid service is related to the 'Linked Device' feature specially designed for WhatsApp Business accounts. From the screenshots uploaded by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp uses a different description for the multi-device feature in business accounts.
The description states that business users can connect their accounts to multiple devices so that other people/employees in the business can communicate with customers in the same chat.
Well, this paid service will be available specifically for WhatsApp Business accounts and offer additional features to help their business. For example, regular WhatsApp users can connect up to four devices with the multi-device feature, but if business users pay a subscription fee, they can connect up to 10 devices.
WABetaInfo said this was the first feature offered by WhatsApp's paid service for business accounts. Other types of additional features will be announced in the near future, as quoted from WABetaInfo, Wednesday (20/4/2022).
It should be noted that with this paid service it doesn't mean all users have to pay to use WhatsApp. The WhatsApp service for standard accounts owned by billions of users will not change and users will not be charged anything.
This paid service is optional and can be used by businesses to get additional features that are useful for their operations. If a business needs the feature, they can pay a subscription fee to access it.
Currently, there is limited information available about this paid service for WhatsApp Business. It is not yet known whether the subscription fee can be paid monthly or annually and how much it will cost.
