China develops smart lenses to monitor eye pressure and glaucoma


 Scientists from China have now developed a smart lens that focuses on monitoring the level of pressure in the eye, and at the same time treating glaucoma by providing medication when needed.


Developed by Sun Yat-sen University, this lens can be used for the purpose of monitoring pressure in the eye before surgery, and also used to provide medication after surgery.



Glaucoma is an eye disease that causes damage to the optic nerve. If not treated and treated, it can lead to eternal blindness.


Following tests carried out on the eyes of pigs and pigs – which almost resemble the human eye, he showed results that can monitor sensitive levels, and control eye pressure levels.


For now, it has not been tested widely, including in humans. Regardless, according to the development, he said that the removal of these blinds can be done with the process of removing the existing lenses.
