Disney Plus Limits Ads To Four Minutes Per Hour

At the end of this year Disney plans to run ads on its streaming service Disney Plus. In its announcement, Disney said the ad would only be shown for four minutes on movies or shows that were an hour or less in length.

Thus Disney Plus offers fewer ads per hour than some of its competitors. Like Peacock NBC which gives five minutes per hour to show ads on its service, while HBO Max displays four minutes of ads per hour.

In fact, the number of ads Disney Plus is planning to beat is that of Disney's other streaming service, Hulu, which shows nine to 12 ads in an hour.

Launching from The Verge, Thursday (19/5/2022) Disney will also take a cautious approach to the advertisements it displays in order to maintain Disney's family-friendly reputation.

Such as cutting ads with adult themes related to alcohol or politics. Disney also does not accept advertising of any kind originating from entertainment competitors. This is done by the company in order to continue to grow its customer base.

With this policy Disney also plans to remove ads from all shows for child users. Where Disney Plus will remove all ads on shows that are intended for preschool and elementary school audiences even if users who watch the show do not use children's profiles when enjoying the service.

Disney has also announced that it will soon launch a cheaper option for its Disney Plus streaming service by the end of 2022.

This launch will be carried out in the United States which will also be available in other countries the following year.

Unfortunately, there is still no certainty about how much the cheaper option will be launched by Disney Plus, it is known that Disney Plus costs without advertising for USD 7.99 per month.
