Google Promises Not to Sell or Use Users' Personal Data

 


At the Google I/O 2022 event, of course Google will not miss to talk about user security and privacy.


Among those they announced are a warning icon will be displayed on Google account profile images if security is compromised, please delete personal information from Google search, as well as some protections for Google Workspace services like Google Docs, Slides and Sheets. Not to forget also that Google along with Apple and Microsoft started supporting the Allience FIDO standard for a password-free world. For those who are active in online shopping, Google has also introduced a feature to generate a virtual credit card number similar to the Apple Hide My Email feature but for cards.



Speaking more about Google Workspace, among their services are Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Meet, Drive and others for work, study and productivity. Each of these apps will have new protections to keep user data safe.


Gmail for example, Google will block 99.9% of phishing emails and incoming spam.

Docs, Slides and Sheets meanwhile, any text with hyperlinks that Google traces have signs of phishing user data and giving users malware it will continue to filter.

The Google Password Manager password manager will also be encrypted on the device.

The upcoming Protected Computing tool can further reduce user footprints on the Internet and prevent sensitive data from being accessed.

In Ukraine, the Project Shield program was developed there to protect more than 200 government websites, media companies and others.

Google also continues to activate active user accounts with two-factor authentication for tighter security.


More interestingly, Google will also soon offer a dashboard for ad control - My Ad Center. Ads can later be controlled by users to display relevant such as categories, topics, brands and many more more specific data so that ads are displayed according to user preferences.


During the Google I/O 2022 event, Google's representative who presented security and privacy matters, Danielle Romain as the Vice Chairman of the Trust also tried to convince everyone that Google will not sell users' personal data and will not use user data stored in Google services for advertising purposes.
