Malaysians Aged 60 And Above Without Comorbidities Can Receive A Second Booster Injection Voluntarily

 


The Malaysian Ministry of Health has just issued the latest statement on the giving and receiving of the second booster injection of COVID-19 vaccine for people aged 60 years and above, adults 18 years and above and also teenagers aged 12-17 years.


Through the statement, the MOH said that those aged 60 and above without the spread of disease or comorbidities can get a second booster injection from 4-6 months after receiving the first booster dose. For this group, the dose can be taken voluntarily without the need to consult a physician.



For adults 18 to 59 years old, individuals identified as having comorbid health problems are advised to take their second booster dose from 4-6 months after receiving their booster dose. It is advisable for this group to discuss with a physician first before taking it so that all parties understand why the booster dose is better taken.


The MOH also says that for 12-17 year olds with comorbidity issues, they are encouraged to take their first booster injection after receiving the primary injection within 4-6 months after the first set of vaccinations is received. They and parents are also advised to talk to a medical practitioner before taking it.


Taking the second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine can be taken voluntarily and can be given when it is needed.
