MEASAT-3d Satellite To Be Launched On 23 June 2022-Supports New Communication Technology, With Higher Capacity

 


MEASAT today stated that they will launch their next satellite, MEASAT-3d on 23 June 2022.


The satellite will offer high -capacity data transfer support - including internet transmission via satellite up to 100Mbps, as well as content transmission for television and telecommunications. With this satellite as well, it is expected to connect around 3-5% of the hard-to-reach population using fiber lines in Malaysia.



MEASAT states the cost for this satellite is around RM1.2 billion, and it is the most complex satellite to date under their offering. This MEASAT-3d satellite mission will use the Eurostar 3000 built by Airbus, and will be launched via the Ariane 5 rocket at the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.


The satellite will also provide additional capacity for Astro in providing their broadcasts in the region-via Ku-Band as well as C wave capacity, in addition to Ka-Band High Throughput Satellite support that supports over 30Gbps capacity.


MEASAT-3d was designed to be used for 18 years.


Previously, MEASAT had launched MEASAT-1 and MEASAT-2 in 1996, followed by MEASAT-3 in 2006. MEASAT-3a was launched in 2009, and MEASAT-3b in 2014.
