Tinder Owner Suits Google for Forced Use of Play Store Payment System

Now it's Google's turn to be sued for the practice of forcing app developers to use the Play Store payment system for customers using Android devices. Match Group which is the owner of the app find couples Tinder and OKCupid claims Google violated several state as well as federal laws because of this coercion.

Earlier this year Google allowed developers like Spotify to provide payment options outside of the Play Store system but Match Group said they were not given the same freedom. That is why the suit was filed as a final step to get justice.

Google and Apple have been sued in the Netherlands, Japan and South Korea over practices forcing the use of their payment systems that take discounts of up to 30%. The European Union has begun measures to enforce the Digital Markets Act (DMA) that will prevent technology companies from pursuing practices seen as detrimental to consumers. Google and Apple, meanwhile, said deductions were taken to manage the store and ensure the safety of users is always protected from malicious applications.
