Users Will Be Able To Play Games at TikTok

TikTok is reportedly testing a new service that allows users to play games on the TikTok app. According to four sources, the testing is currently being conducted in Vietnam.

Vietnam itself has 70% of the technology -savvy population under the age of 35 and is an attractive market for social media giants including TikTok.

This is TikTok's effort to increase advertising revenue and the amount of time users spend on the application.

In addition, TikTok also plans to launch a wider game in the Southeast Asian market, which is likely to be implemented at the beginning of the third quarter.

A Tiktok representative said the company had tested HTML5 games, a common form of minigames, into its applications. This comes from collaborations with third -party game developers and studios such as Zynga Inc.

However, he declined to comment on the company's plans for Vietnam and ambitions in the gaming world.

"We are always looking for ways to enrich our platform and regularly test new features and integrations that bring value to our community," the representative was quoted as saying by Reuters on Sunday (22/5/2022).

Unfortunately, the parent company Tiktok Bytedance did not respond to requests in this regard.

Reuters also wrote it could not learn what TikTok plans to release game features in other markets. Although users can watch games while streaming, some regions cannot play games within the TikTok application.

In the United States, only a few games seem to have been launched including Disco Loco 3D and Garden of Good.

The TikTok plan reflects the technology company's efforts to retain users. A number of other tech giants are known to do the same thing as Facebook with Instant Games in 2016 and Netflix also added games to its platform.
