Perhaps many are already familiar with the number Pi, which is written as 22/7 or in decimals it is rounded to 3.142. This figure is often used in calculating the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.
Anyway, interestingly now a new record is being set when through the use of Google’s cloud computing, Pi numbers can be calculated up to 100 trillion digits.
This success also demonstrates the ability and speed of Google Cloud operations to successfully perform these calculations.
These calculations are performed through a program called y-cruncher, using an algorithm called Chudnovsky. The calculation of the Pi number was started on October 14, 2021, and completed on March 21, 2022 - covering a period of 157 days, 23 hours, 31 minutes.
