MEASAT-3d Satellite Successfully Launched Into Space

The MEASAT-3d satellite was successfully launched safely from French Guiana around 5.50 am Malaysian time. The satellite will offer high -capacity data transfer support - including internet transmission via satellite up to 100Mbps, as well as content transmission for television and telecommunications. With this satellite as well, it is expected to connect around 3-5% of the hard-to-reach population using fiber lines in Malaysia.

The satellite, designed by Airbus, cost RM1.2 billion and was launched into orbit using the Ariane 5 rocket. MEASAT-3d is also the 10th satellite launched into Malaysia since the first successful launch of TiongSat-1 in 1996. It is expected to be able to operate for 18 years. It comes just in time after MEASAT-3 terminated its service last year after experiencing some problems to operate.
