Spotify Acquires Sonantic AI Voice Platform

Spotify continues to bring new features to its music streaming service, one of which is the presence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology on its platform.

Launching from 9to5mac, Tuesday (14/6/2022) Spotify announced that it has acquired Sonantic, an AI voice platform that creates realistic sounds from text. This acquisition step is also Spotify's effort to compete with its main competitor, Apple Music.

"We are excited about the potential to bring Sonantic's AI voice technology to the Spotify platform and create new experiences for our users. This integration will allow us to engage users in new and even more personalized ways," said Ziad Sultan, Spotify's Vice President of Personalization. .

Spotify's acquisition of AI invests new text-to-speech capabilities across platforms. In addition, Spotify states that it believes that the demand for high-quality sound will continue to increase in the long term.

"Sound technology allows us to give users context for upcoming recommendations when they're not looking at their screen. Using voice today can reduce barriers to creating new audio experiences—and open the door to more new opportunities." said the Sultan.

Spotify's main competitor, Apple Music, has also invested in artificial intelligence. Earlier this year, Apple acquired AI Music, a platform that can compose songs using artificial intelligence.

AI Music can even produce songs that adapt to the user's heartbeat. Although we haven't seen any details about this acquisition from Apple, it seems that AI technology will be around for the long term in the music streaming platform.
