TikTok will allow users to create and customize animated avatars to star in their video clips using a new feature called TikTok Avatars.
This feature is similar to Bitmoji characters from Snapchat or Memoji from Apple. Launching us from Engadget, Thursday (9/6/2022) with this feature, users can customize the appearance of their avatar by changing their appearance, clothing, other characteristics such as piercings and hair texture.
TikTok will have available ready-made templates that can be changed or users can start from scratch to create a completely unique avatar. Once the avatar is created, the user can use it as a character in the video by adding different sound effects or animated reactions.
Similar to Apple's Memoji, TikTok users can record videos in which their avatar mirrors their own facial expressions and movements.
TikTok Avatars themselves first appeared in February 2022. However, TikTok has not provided official confirmation even until now.
TikTok isn't the first platform to experiment with user animation representations. However, with the addition of these features, it certainly raises the question of whether TikTok is eyeing the potential metaverse.
The application made by Bytedance has not yet given its response regarding the metaverse plan, TikTok currently just wants to continue exploring and trying to come up with ways to bring Avatar to a more user-friendly experience.
Well, TikTok can be a means of entertainment for its users and of course a positive experience when using a smartphone.
