Huawei partnered with Leica in 2016 on the Huawei P9 lens and software. This collaboration has brought results with the Huawei name soaring, especially among the world's smartphone photography enthusiasts. While the collaboration was done, the devices did not display the iconic Leica red logo throughout their collaboration. But with their new collaboration with Xiaomi this may change.
Digital Chat Station today leaked an image that claimed to be a Xiaomi 12 Ultra with the class logo emblazoned on the top corner of the camera hump. It will be the first device to combine technology from both companies.
It is also reported that this landmark device will come with ceramic panels with genuine leather panels. Similar to what was done on the OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer’s Edition which was launched last year.
The collaboration with Leica may be the trigger that will eventually make Xiaomi a company taken seriously in the industry. They are already aiming to become the world's number one smartphone manufacturer by 2024.
