Bytedance is the parent company that owns the TikTok and Douyin apps. In terms of technology needs maybe many just see them as app developers. But now Bytedance says they also want to produce their own custom chips to meet the company's specific needs.
Self-produced chips need to be designed as so far there are no chips on the market that really meet Bytedance’s requirements. In addition to enabling Bytedance to be more self -reliant, this is also seen as another Chinese effort to reduce dependence on technology from outside. Bytedance before there produced special devices for streaming as well as camera systems for learning from home.
As can be seen happening to Huawei, when trade restrictions are imposed the future of the world’s second -largest former smartphone maker is getting bleak. Bytedance isn’t the only company looking to develop its own chips. Vivo, Huawei and Oppo have already started taming their chips to control the photography system as well as the power control of the device.
The Chinese government is also increasing investment to enable chips with more up -to -date technology to be produced entirely domestically without having to rely on foreign -owned technology.
