WhatsApp seems to be listening to the requests of its users as they are known to be developing one of the most anticipated features. The long -awaited feature is the option to hide your online status!
WhatsApp users have been waiting for this feature for a long time because they want to hide their online status. The reasons vary, ranging from not wanting to be disturbed to worrying that they will be digitally stalked by unwanted people.
The online status itself usually appears when the user opens the WhatsApp application on his device and is connected to the internet. Although it has brought some privacy features, until now WhatsApp users can not hide their online status easily.
The good news is, WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is developing a new feature that allows users to choose who can see their online status.
From the screenshot uploaded by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users will be able to hide their online status via the 'Last Seen & Online' option in the privacy settings.
WhatsApp users can choose who can see their online status. WhatsApp provides two new options, namely 'Everyone' and 'Same as Last Seen', as quoted from WABetaInfo, Saturday (2/7/2022).
For example, if you select the 'My Contacts' option for Last Seen and select the 'Same as Last Seen' option for who can see your online status, then people who are not on your contact list will not be able to see whether you are online or not.
Although the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo only shows the development of this feature in WhatsApp beta for iOS, they say WhatsApp will launch the same feature for WhatsApp beta for Android and Desktop.
Unfortunately, the feature is currently in development and not yet available for beta testers. It is unknown when WhatsApp will release this new privacy feature to the public.
