As we already know, HarmonyOS is Huawei's standalone system that can be used on many different types of devices. This includes smart devices, smart watches, smart televisions, smart displays, tablets and the like. Recently, an update variant for this operating system has been introduced in general. However, for now its introduction is limited in China first before being developed more widely in the future.
As a brand new update, this operating system features various latest capabilities while offering better usability. At the same time, the interface has also been streamlined with a new look and better features in line with its aim to facilitate the use of all. Application performance and user experience are also said to be 11% better than the previous generation. Here's what's new in HarmonyOS 3.0 :
1) Interface With Brand New Widgets
HarmonyOS 3.0 made its debut on the new tablet MatePad Pro 11. The notable change is in the interface with widgets that can now be customized in several aspects. It includes shape, size, color and style. They can also be easily organized, for example by color or classified by function. At the same time, it is now also more vertical. The ability to add text and stickers is also included. In addition, it can also be placed on the main menu, between applications or between the widgets themselves to save space.
2) HyperTerminal Supported More Devices
For those who may not be aware, HyperTerminal is a feature that allows multiple devices to be wirelessly connected through a central control center. For example, the connection between earphones on a smart television for a better viewing experience and so on. Through the new update, more devices are supported including smart printers, smart glasses and car devices. In addition to smartphones, devices such as smart screens and Windows 11 PCs can also become device hubs.
3) Screen To Screen Sharing
Screen-to-screen sharing capabilities are now supported through this new update. Through it, it allows you to stream the laptop display directly to the monitor – for example the Huawei MateBook and MateStation X. Ideal for those who want to create and edit videos quickly and efficiently.
Where, you can edit videos with higher resolution display and cinematic colors. In addition, various other processes such as zooming, removing blur and so on can also be done easily. At the same time, you can also connect it with Huawei earphones for a more productive working experience.
4) Smoother Communication
Devices with HarmonyOS 3.0 now do not require a Wi-Fi connection for sharing communications with the primary device. It can be connected automatically through the settings on the main device. This means that when it is activated, the network for two nearby Huawei devices can be connected automatically. At the same time, it allows incoming calls to be answered or messages to be displayed through the tablet as if both were the same device. It is a feature similar to the system used by Apple.
5) Enhanced Privacy Access
HarmonyOS 3.0 allows users to access multiple app privacy profiles with one simple step. It now has a privacy center that can be found in the settings menu. Through it, it gives a picture of how existing applications often access data on the device.
The automatic security risk detection function built into the system helps facilitate the control and management of any application while avoiding privacy issues. The image privacy protection function hides a number of sensitive data such as the location, the device model used and the time the image was taken. This at the same time allows users to share pictures without worry on social media.
6) Ease of Use of Mobile Applications
HarmonyOS 3 now enables various mobile applications to be used in the car. In a simple sense, a special feature that can transform an Android device into an inforia screen on a vehicle. This also allows users to use smartphone applications on car dashboards such as Android Auto.
7) Simultaneous Headphone Connection
A feature that allows two sets of Huawei earphones / headphones to be connected wirelessly for simultaneous audio listening. Through it, two users can share the experience of listening to the same song simultaneously using one main device.
8) Xiaoyi Digital Assistant Service
It will recommend various services and notifications that are appropriate for the current situation like Celia. For example, when you are boarding a plane or underground train, it will recommend the appropriate travel code. Next, when you wake up in the morning it will share information related to weather and time. Other notifications include brief fitness tutorials, restaurant recommendations and more.
Not to be left out, HarmonyOS 3.0 also brings a number of other interesting updates such as 3D virtual avatars, control of smart home equipment through smart devices, enhanced entertainment video experience and so on. Huawei plans to start a massive update to its flagship devices starting in September. The list of supported smart devices has not yet been announced as of this writing.
