Being a parent in modern times is challenging because technology facilitates access to inappropriate content that was previously difficult to find in Malaysia. TikTok as a popular video streaming platform among teenagers introduced Content Level to facilitate the process of blocking content that may be inappropriate.
Content Level is similar to the U, PG, and 18PL classification system used by the Film Censorship Board in Malaysia. It automatically detects content to ensure that scary, scary or inappropriate content can be filtered out before being seen by users under 18.
In the coming months more content filtering options will be provided to users. If attempted to view, the screen will display a notification that the video is blocked due to age restrictions.
