Previously Meta caused outrage when it announced the owners of the AR Quest reality set they would have to use a Facebook account. Those who sign up using an Oculus account are asked to make an exchange before access is blocked. Today Meta has done a U -turn by saying the use of Facebook accounts will no longer be mandatory starting August 2022.
After August, it will be switched to the use of a new Meta account. After that, users need to create a profile for Meta Horizon to immerse themselves in the world of Meta metamesta. Registration to a new account is necessary for those who have been using a Facebook account to log in.
For those who are still using an Oculus account, they are given a period until January 1, 2023 to open their Meta account.
