WhatsApp Is Testing Features Using Avatar Like Memoji For Video Calls

Most video call services already have the feature of using a custom avatar as an alternative to showing each other’s faces while in a video call session. Snapchat has a filter to use on Google Meet or Zoom, Zoom has its own avatar, TikTok has also recently introduced its own avatar and more.

There is no denying that the use of Memoji in FaceTime is among the inspirations for video calling services that offer this feature. Recently, Meta is also seen to be more focused in the use of avatars for their products. WABetaInfo revealed that their video calls could eventually replace users ’faces with their own custom avatars.

According to sources, this feature has been in development since last March. Yet it still doesn’t have any details like whether it will integrate avatars from Facebook, whether it is kind of interactive and can move and so on.

As far as the information disclosed is, users can switch between their own faces and avatars. Also not sure when it will be distributed. Anyway, let's wait for further announcements later.
