WhatsApp is back with a new feature for groups. After increasing the maximum group member limit, WhatsApp is now developing a feature to view a list of members who left the group. Of course this is not good news for those who want to leave the group secretly, even though this feature is being developed by WhatsApp.
The presence of this feature was reported by WABetaInfo who found it in the WhatsApp beta update for iOS version 22.16.0.70. This feature is currently under development and is not yet available for beta testers.
WABetaInfo said this feature had actually been revealed when they announced the feature to leave a WhatsApp group secretly without the other group members knowing, except the admin.
Even so, all group members can still see who the participants who left the group are through the 'Past participant' feature. This feature previously appeared in the WhatsApp beta changelog for Android, and now the same feature is being developed for iOS.
Through this update, WABetaInfo also found additional information about the Past participant feature. From the screenshot uploaded by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users on iOS can see a list of members who left the group by opening the Past participant section in the group info.
But this list will only contain the names of the members who left the group in the last 60 days. This means that the names of members who leave the group will be removed from this list after 60 days, as quoted from WABetaInfo, Monday (25/7/2022).
So if WhatsApp has launched a feature to leave a group secretly, the user cannot run away and just erase the traces because the admin will still know and his name will be included in the list of past participants.
This feature is still in development stage and it is not known when it will be released. Maybe this feature will be rolled out along with the option to leave groups quietly which WhatsApp users have been waiting for.
Talking about features that are requested by many users, WhatsApp is also developing an option to hide users' online status through its latest privacy settings.
