A New Malware Discovered, Steals Access To Facebook Business Accounts

The cyber security arena often discovers a number of new malware every day. Recently, a malware was discovered that stole access to Facebook Business accounts.

Named as Ducktail, this hacker who aims to steal Facebook Business access uses one of the structured methods of gaining access.

Initially, they will perform a check on LinkedIn targeting an organization, and then look at the number of employees at that organization who are likely to have access to a Facebook Business account.

Next, a link will be sent to the relevant person using a link hosted on Dropbox or iCloud, including the document or file planted with the malware. Because it is hosted on a trusted site, it simultaneously makes people download and access the document or file in question.

Once a person downloads, the malware will start stealing info such as Facebook account, related data, including cookies and even two-factor authentication codes. The malware will also steal access to the Facebook Business account by including the email in the Facebook account section - at the same time stealing access to the account.

By stealing a Facebook Business account, they will then use it to stream income to their account, or use the Facebook Business account to run advertising.

At this time, it is not known how many people have been affected by the Ducktail malware.
