AEON : 38,396 VISA And Mastercard Cards Suspected To Be Affected By iPay88 Leak

Bank Negara Malaysia has recently informed the public about the data leak involving iPay88, on the payment card system on the platform. This leaves a number of users exposed to the risk of their cards being misused by irresponsible parties.

In parallel, some parties have started to inform users. Kiple has previously informed users of their VISA prepaid cards.

Recently, AEON has also informed users about this matter by sending SMS to involved customers. AEON also shared the data, saying they had been notified by VISA and Mastercard card providers, of which 38,396 cards were suspected to have been leaked through the payment service providers.

All the cards concerned are monitored for any suspicious transactions.

AEON also canceled the cards of the affected users, and said it would send a new card instead. This is in line with BNM's previous instructions.

For users, you are advised to monitor your banking transactions in case there are any transactions that are suspicious or not done by you.
