Facebook Live Shopping Will Stop With Focus Given To Reels

Facebook Live Shopping was introduced to enable the sale of products directly on the Facebook platform. But starting October 1, 2022, the Live Shopping feature will be discontinued by Meta and users are advised to move to Reels.

The feature of tagging products sold and purchases while streaming on Live Shopping have all been supported on Reels which can be used on Facebook and Instagram now. Meta turned off various features that were found to be less well received.

With TikTok now the most significant challenger, Meta is doubling down on providing the same experience on their respective social media platforms. Not all changes introduced are well received by users. Due to negative comments last week, Instagram delayed the introduction of full-screen timelines and random video displays using a TikTok-like algorithm on Instagram.
