Film Fall Uses Deepfake Technology To Change Actors' Lip Movements After Dialogue Is Changed

Deepfake audio technology has been used to produce Val Kilmer's voice in his documentary and also his dialogue in the film Top Gun Maverick. This is because he can no longer speak after undergoing tracheostomy surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. But now deepfake video technology is also used in the movie Fall to change the movement of the actor's lips after the dialogue is changed.

Lionsgate who produced the film had to change the dialogue in the film to allow it to receive a PG-13 classification. It was previously given an R rating by the MPAA for having a lot of goofy dialogue. Since the film had a low budget, the producers could not re-shoot the scenes that had the gossip.

TrueSync technology allows the actor's lips to move in sync with the newly re-recorded dialogue. Now the movie Fall can be shown in theaters with a PG-13 classification without the problem of audio not being the same as visuals.
