The Indian government is currently considering introducing a policy of using only one type of charger for all devices, including tablets and smartphones.
With this move, India is expected to follow in the footsteps of the European Union which also introduced the policy and will be enforced from 2024. For now, the Indian government is still in the process of discussion, as well as meeting with various manufacturers related to this new policy.
By only relying on one type of charger, it will reduce electronic waste, in addition to no longer needing multiple different chargers for devices and reducing people's burden.
India already has over 1 billion people, and is expected to become the most populous country in the world soon. Because of this alone, it is likely that all producers will follow the prescribed instructions, or producers may lose on the market.
