Khazanah Shares Why They Didn't Make Early Investments Into Grab

One of the things that many people often question is regarding why Khazanah did not invest in Grab.

Now, through an interview with CNBC, Khazanah shared that their focus is on large-sized investments, and not directly on a start-up company. Because of that, Khazanah did not make any initial investment in Grab.

Khazanah says they usually manage large-sized investments. VC (Venture Capital) investment is not something that Khazanah does, nor is it their specialty.

However, Khazanah says they also channel investment funds to VC funds which will then invest in several companies. This will simultaneously make the investment decision made by the firm that manages it. Through this column, Khazanah is willing to invest in Uber at an early stage, which is a competitor to Grab.

Although the investment was not made by Khazanah, Grab received an injection of funds from Cradle when it was known as MyTeksi.
