In August, WhatsApp was confirmed to release a privacy feature that users have long coveted. The feature is that it can leave WhatsApp groups without being caught and can also hide online statuses, which can be set to be shown to anyone.
This has been announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself as CEO of Meta, the owner of WhatsApp. "Several new privacy features will be rolling out on WhatsApp: leaving groups without notifications, controlling who can see when you're online, and blocking screenshots for single-view messages," said Zuck.
"We believe that sending messages and making calls should feel private and safe, just like when having a face-to-face conversation. It's like two people chatting, without anyone else between them," explains WhatsApp.
"To spread the word about this new layer of protection, we will also be launching a campaign to introduce these new features and convey our ongoing commitment to protecting your private conversations on WhatsApp," they added.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp Product Head, Ami Vora, stated that the arrival of the feature was part of WhatsApp's focus on creating features that gave users more control and privacy in their messages.
"We believe that WhatsApp is the safest place to have private conversations," he said.
"No other global messaging service of this scale provides users with this level of security in messaging, media, voicemail, video calling and message backup," the WhatsApp boss said.
