The Huawei Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro have been officially launched today as the first smartphones from Huawei to support satellite phone calls. This system allows users to make phone calls when no normal cellular network is reachable. In addition to phone calls, sending emergency messages is also possible as long as there is access to the Beidou 3 satellite.
Huawei Mate 50 is a model with a 6.7″ OLED FHD+ 90Hz screen, Snapdragon 8+ 4G chip, 8GB RAM memory, up to 512GB storage and a 4460 mAh battery that supports 66W wired, 50W wireless and 7.5W reverse fast charging.
The main camera uses Huawei's own XMAGE system after the collaboration with Leica ended this year. On the rear, a 50MP wide-angle OIS sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 12MP OIS telephoto. The 50MP sensor comes with a variable aperture system f/1.4 to f/4.0. Meanwhile, the telephoto system can do 5X optical zoom and up to 50X digital zoom. Meanwhile in front of the 13MP camera is used and it is placed in a small screen hole.
Meanwhile, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro comes with a 6.74″ OLED FHD+ 120Hz screen, Snapdragon 8+ 4G chip, 8GB RAM memory, up to 512GB storage and a 4700 mAh battery that supports 66W wired, 50W wireless and 7.5W reverse fast charging.
The main camera also uses the XMAGE system but the main sensors are 50MP OIS wide-angle, 13MP ultra-wide-angle, and 64MP OIS telephoto. The 50MP sensor comes with a variable aperture system f/1.4 to f/4.0. Meanwhile, the telephoto system can do 3.5X optical zoom and up to 100X digital zoom.
The 13MP front camera is paired with a 3D facial scanning system placed on a large notch. The device also comes with a metal finish and also vegan leather on the back. Both of these flagship devices use the latest HarmonyOS 3.0 operating system and have IP68 waterproof capability.
The sale price of Huawei Mate 50 starts from RMB4999 (~RM3238) for 128GB storage and increases to RMB6699 (~RM4340) for 512GB with vegan skin. Meanwhile, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro is sold at a price of RMB 6799 (~RM4404) for 256GB and increases to RMB7999 (~RM5282) for 512GB vegan leather.
