Tencent has invested €300 million (~RM 1.33 billion) into Ubisoft this morning to increase their stake from 4.5% to 9.9%. The investment is in the form of €200 million (~RM891 million) of shares purchased from Guillemot Brothers Ltd and €100 (~RM445 million) in the form of capital to the company.
Ubisoft has the freedom to do business as usual because Tencent is still only a minority holder of the company. This investment is also expected to help Ubisoft to offer their IP to mobile devices which currently have a larger market share than PCs and consoles. Tencent also increased their influence in the world of video games after also investing in Epic Games and Activision Blizzard.
