The 15th general election will take place on November 19 with the future of the country once again in the hands of those who are eligible to vote. After the polling date was announced by the Election Commission (EC) this morning, Tun Dr Mahathir Muhammad sent a tweet to Twitter urging the EC to ban voters from bringing smartphones to polling centers.
According to him if it is allowed it will encourage corrupt practices because users can show proof that they have voted for a certain candidate to receive bribes from a certain party. According to the former two-time Prime Minister, this is one of the weaknesses that need to be fixed by the EC in the next GE.
