As you may know, the storage manufacturers Western Digital and Sandisk have already separated. Western Digital is seen to focus on the production of hard disk storage, while Sandisk will be responsible for developing flash storage which includes SSD storage and memory cards.
Recently, the WD SN8100 SSD storage has been introduced in several selected markets without any announcement, and interestingly, it is seen as the first product released by Sandisk after the separation, and is also the first WD-branded SSD storage with support for PCIe 5.0 data transmission technology.
Interestingly, it also indicates that the branding of existing products such as WD Black will remain, even though Sandisk has taken over the SSD storage production business from Western Digital. This drive was found on Amazon Germany, where pre-orders for this drive are open, and will go on sale on May 30, 2025.
Currently, the storage option shown is 1TB, and the website also indicates that it has a read speed of 14.9GB/s and a write speed of 14GB/s, which are among the fastest read speeds on the market today.
It is currently unknown when Sandisk will open pre-orders and sales of this SSD drive for other markets.
