Hack-A-Tech Program Winner Announced – Vircle Wins RM50,000

 


Just recently, Jewel Digital Ventures has announced the winners of the virtual program: Hack-A-Tech 2022. Through 140 entries that brought together a total of 300 participants covering various walks of life and fields, only five groups were shortlisted for each category, then selected as the main winner of this hackathon.



Hack-A-Tech is an initiative of Jewel Digital Ventures, in collaboration with Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) and 1337 Ventures which aims to explore and identify innovative solutions in the financial technology industry, in line with the development of the industry today. Lasting for three days starting from 14 to 16 October, it turned out that this hackathon successfully unearthed the talent and hidden ideas of the participants in advancing the financial technology industry.



There are two categories that are contested in this hackathon. The first is the Open Track category, which is a platform for students, developers, first-time participants and product designers to share their thoughts and interesting work concepts regarding product offerings, functions and product characteristics. For this category, first place was won by Muhamad Afiq bin Mohd Nasri, followed by Tic-TECH-Toe (second place) and It's Not A Bug, It's A Feature (third place).



While the second category, Advanced Track, is open to technical and business experts, especially startup companies that have their own mission in co-creating the latest products or services. This co-creation basically takes into account the suggestions and opinions of users in the production of an innovative product or service.


By highlighting the idea of ​​helping parents make their children smart in financial management, the main winner of the Advanced Track category, the Vircle application, successfully brought home RM 50,000 in cash. Cash of RM10,000 for the second place was won by the Pod application, which helps users save money to achieve certain goals such as retirement savings and emergency savings.



The Finory application which facilitates the management of credit cards such as credit debt payment also brought home cash amounting to RM 5,000 and also the title of third place for this category. For the winners of this category, a grant worth RM100,000 will be given if ASNB implements their project in their business in the future.


Overall, commensurate with the efforts and ideas poured in, the winners took home a total prize in the form of cash worth up to RM 391,000 as well as the benefits of Microsoft Azure Credit, Microsoft Productivity/Dev Tools and Microsoft Azure Certification. Finally, we also take the opportunity to congratulate the talented winners, pioneers in the advancement of Malaysia's financial technology industry.
