When Huawei was blocked from using Google's operating system, they continued to take drastic measures, using their own operating system which is Huawei Mobile Services. This system has already powered Huawei smartphones starting from the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, and until now has been used by various Huawei devices.
At the Huawei Developer Day event which also brought together HMS developers from the Southeast Asian region, Huawei also shared about the performance of HMS. After kicking off in 2018 with 560,000 developers, they now have 6 Million registered Developers capable of developing applications that run on HMS.
Even for this year, more partners are also taking advantage of the update to the HMS Core core system. Starting with HMS Core 5 which provides access to payments and advertising, HMS app developers can now generate ad-based profits using Huawei Ads. It even integrates with other popular Huawei applications, such as Petal Search, Petal Maps and many more.
In addition, Huawei also provides enterprise solutions for gaming, mapping, business and entertainment. This is an update to the HMS core system, and for this year alone, there are around 25,030 HMS Core Open APIs that developers can take advantage of, in producing quality applications for AppGallery, while targeting their services specifically for Huawei device users.
It is clear that with the development of HMS, it puts them closer to competing with other operating systems. This at the same time gives various options to users in choosing the device and service they like.
