Google Chrome is now expected to add a new feature, which prevents downloads from sites that are not secure, or based on HTTP.
This is seen as one of the efforts to encourage all web providers to switch to HTTPS.
Chrome will label a download as unsafe and block it, when it finds that the site leading to the download still uses HTTP, or the final site for the download is on HTTP.
For now, it is still in the early stages of approval, and if approved, we may see its implementation in 2023.
