The European Union (EU) has set on December 28, 2024, all new phones must use USB-C charging. This includes with the iPhone. The Government of India (BIS) also wants to do the same.
Recently, BIS reportedly also wants to make it mandatory for all wearable devices to use the same charging method. This will affect smart watches, health trackers, TWS and even headphone sets.
But for now, they still haven't decided which charging method will be used. On the market right now, most TWS and headphone sets already use USB-C charging – so it might not be a problem. But for smart watches and health trackers, the majority use proprietary charging such as pogo pin, magnetic and Qi wireless charging.
If this continues, we may see more convenient device charging in the future. Let's wait together.
