Last April, Epic Games launched the RealityScan application that can scan objects into 3D models. At that time it can only be accessed by a number of users. Today RealityScan can be downloaded for iPhone users for free.
After the object is scanned, it can be exported to a number of 3D programs such as Sketchfab. For video game developers, models can be inserted into the world of Unreal Engine developed by Epic Games. With RealityScan the process of producing 3D models for video games will be simplified.
Almost all iPhone models can download RealityScan even if the device does not have a 3D ToF camera on the back. For Android device users, this application will only be provided starting next year.
