The Ministry of Communications and Digital is now officially the new name for the Ministry of Communications and Multmedia. The name of the ministry was changed to be more in line with the new responsibilities and the country's digital direction. This is not the first time the name of the ministry has been changed which initially used the name Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Before that in the pre-independence era, it used the name of the Department of Public Transport to monitor radio broadcasts used in Malaya. The Ministry of Communications and Digital has the task of continuing the digitization and communication agenda that has been carried out by the previous administration.
We feel that one of the earliest agendas is to resolve the 5G crisis which has yet to be fully implemented. There are a number of new devices with 5G modems that are not yet supported under the DNB initiative. Prime Minister Datu Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously said the 5G network equipment contract would be reviewed.
