The Sony IMX989 camera sensor is a 1-inch sensor built together with Xiaomi and Leica. It was first used on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra which is exclusive to the Chinese market, but this sensor is confirmed to be used by competitors and Xiaomi Leica devices will be expanded to the global market.
The confirmed Xiaomi Leica device to be launched globally is the Xiaomi 13 series with the Pro variant having already passed SIRIM verification. The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, use UFS 4.0 storage, run MIUI 14 based on Android 13, offer exclusive features for Genshin Impact and use a brand new design with an iPhone-like camera module.
Famous leaker Digital Chat Station now reveals that Xiaomi will also introduce the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. This device is said to use a 1-inch IMX989 sensor. Xiaomi 13 Ultra is said to use a quad-camera configuration with PDAF and dToF sensors.
