Of course it's not fun getting laid off. As experienced by this Google employee, where he was included in the list of 12 thousand employees who were laid off by the technology giant.
As quoted by us from MSN, Wednesday (25/1/2023) Kate Olaskiewicz position at Google is a Human Thrust Strategist. He didn't expect to be laid off and was only notified via email.
"I am still in shock and still processing this news. I disagree with the way these layoffs were executed and from what I can tell, I am disappointed this has been done," he wrote on LinkedIn.
"I have put everything into my work. It's hard when you feel betrayed but no one can become this outburst of anger," he added.
According to him, one of the important lessons from this layoff is that even working in a very prestigious company is not a guarantee. Several other Google employees also vented on LinkedIn. One of them felt slapped in the face because he had worked for 20 years but was laid off, and that was only via email.
The layoffs hit all divisions, all positions and even employees with high performance were hit. This makes the employees who are still being retained also feel anxious.
Confusion also hit the criteria for layoffs. Then several employees were disappointed because they did not have time to say goodbye properly.
"It's hard for me to believe this after 20 years working at Google. I didn't expect to know my last day at Google via email. What a slap. I want to say goodbye to everyone physically," wrote one Google employee who was laid off, Jeremy Joslin.
