Android 13 Media Converter Will Support Spotify Connect Soon

The media converter feature on iOS is one of the best. When a video or audio is playing, just press the AirPlay icon on the Control Center and there will be an option to play the media on different sources such as audio accessories, smart screens, or AirPlay 2.

On Android, more or less the same feature was introduced with Android 13. On Android 13 devices, if there is media playing – the user can go to the notification tray and press the “This Phone” icon (if by default, media is playing on the device) and there will be a window exit gives the option to keep playing media on the device, select switch to audio accessory or other.

Recently, Google is said to be working with Spotify to include the Spotify Connect feature built right into the media converter in the Android 13 media player. This means, when you stream audio from Spotify using a device – just press the “This Phone” icon to select a supported audio accessory Spotify Connect standards. No more going to Bluetooth settings, tethering audio accessories, opening the Spotify app again and so on.

For Spotify users this is an interesting feature. But this kind of feature usually needs to be activated by the manufacturer in their respective launchers. For example, on Pixel devices – this media converter already supports Chromecast. But not visible on Xiaomi, Nothing, Asus ROG Phone or Oppo devices. Even new Android media players are still seen offered on Pixel devices only or Nothing devices running Nothing OS that approximate native Android.

It is not yet certain when this Spotify Connect feature will be launched and when all Android 13 device users will be able to enjoy it. Let's wait together.
