Android 14 Will Prevent Installation of Outdated Version Apps

In an effort to continue to improve security and safety, in addition to reducing the rate of malicious and dangerous applications, through the Android 14 operating system, Google is expected to block outdated or non-updated applications.

With this change, we will likely see developers need to support at least Android 6 before being able to install apps on Android devices.

Previously, Google always introduced rules through the Google Play Store only for the publication of applications with minimal Android support, otherwise installation through APKs was not hindered.

But, through Android 14 later, it will be blocked on the operating system – and only require a new version of the application or minimal support to be allowed to install – even as an APK.
