Apple is said to be hunting for VR content for their mixed reality (MR) headset. One of the companies approached to create VR content is Disney.
The headset that Apple and Sony are developing will reportedly have two very high-resolution screens to display VR content, and a number of cameras on the outside of the headset to provide users with augmented reality experiences.
Apart from approaching Disney, Apple is also said to be working on content from Apple TV+ to be displayed on the headset later, we were quoted as saying by Reuters, Wednesday (25/1/2023).
MR is a combination of VR and AR, where users can feel a 'world' separate from the real world like a VR headset, but can still interact with the objects around them like AR.
Well, Apple itself is said to be releasing a VR headset in 2023, and it will also be Apple's focus for this year. However, reportedly the launch of the headset was delayed due to hampered development, namely from the software side.
Apart from that, Apple is also said to be releasing the MR headset in two versions, namely a premium version and a more affordable version. The premium version costs USD 3000, while the affordable version costs USD 1500.
The main difference between the two headsets is the screen resolution, which is much smaller on a budget headset, where the premium version will have a 4K screen for each eye.
This premium version of the headset is said to have various premium components, complete with the Apple M2 chip, the same as that used in the latest line of Macs.
Meanwhile, in more affordable headsets, the screen will have a lower resolution and will probably have fewer external cameras and slower chips so you don't need a cooling fan.
