Astro has now issued their official comment to us, in relation to reports saying that Astro user data is being sold on the black market.
According to Astro, "Astro has been informed that there is an incident involving the alleged sharing of our customers' data without permission. Based on our latest investigation, Astro believes that no confidential customer information in our possession has been leaked. The security of Astro customers' confidential information is of our utmost importance and we believe that we have taken appropriate security measures to protect our customers' data. The investigation is ongoing and we will update if there are any new reports.”
This comment from Astro comes following a report early this morning that said the data of around 13 million Malaysian users was leaked and sold on the black market, saying it came from several sources, including Astro, Maybank and even the SPR.
