Meta Revokes Suspension of Donald Trump's Facebook And Instagram Accounts

After more than two years, Donald Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts will no longer be suspended. Meta confirmed this decision was taken after taking recommendations from Facebook's Supervisory Board which previously agreed to suspend accounts but criticized the lack of clear criteria for why accounts can be suspended and for how long.

Based on the Supervisory Board's recommendation, Meta set a two-year suspension. Both accounts of the former president of the United States will be reactivated in just a few weeks. Meta said the public has the right to hear what politicians want to say, whether good or bad, to judge for themselves before the election.

Although it will be reactivated, Facebook will still monitor the account for content that violates the site's terms of use such as conspiracy content and denying election results. If Donald Trump repeats the same offense, the account will be suspended again for a period of between two months and two years depending on the level of seriousness.
