Just mention TikTok, surely many will know that TikTok is a very popular vertical video streaming platform. The popularity of TikTok causes other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many more to come with more or less the same features because they want to compete.
Now, a report from The Information via 9to5Mac states that it is TikTok's turn to borrow features from famous social media platforms to be integrated into their platform. This feature is direct messaging or Direct Messages (DM) like Instagram. This feature has been tested since last year to selected users, but now TikTok wants to introduce this feature more widely.
The TikTok DM that will be introduced later is optional, where users can choose not to use it. Users can also limit who can send DMs such as mutual followers or suggested friends. According to sources, with this feature TikTok wants their users to share videos directly from within the app and not share to other platforms.
TikTok is also said to want to become more of a social media platform and no longer focus on video streaming alone. What do you think of this feature?
