WhatsApp is a messaging service that is relied on by billions of users around the world, and is often misused to spread spam. To make it easier for users to avoid unwanted contacts and chats, WhatsApp is preparing an update for the blocking feature.
The update is in the form of two shortcuts or shortcuts that make it easier for users to block contacts on WhatsApp without needing to open a chat. The update was spotted by WABetaInfo on WhatsApp beta for Android versions 2.23.2.4 and 2.23.2.5.
First, the option to block WhatsApp contacts directly from notifications. When receiving an incoming message notification, WhatsApp users will see the 'Block' option flanked by the 'Reply' and 'Mute' options.
WABetaInfo says this blocking option will not appear in all incoming chats. This option will only appear when the user receives a chat from an unknown and untrusted contact.
"This limitation is necessary because users may accidentally tap the block action when replying to notifications to contacts they trust," WABetaInfo said as quoted by us, Monday (16/1/2023).

Second, WhatsApp added an option to block contacts directly from the chat list without needing to open the conversation. Users simply press and hold the contact they want to block, then click the chat option in the upper right corner.
There the user can select the Block option which is under the Select all option. This process is not as instant as blocking directly from notifications, but it is much easier and faster than the process of blocking contacts that WhatsApp currently provides.
Even though it can be directly accessed from the chat list, WABetaInfo said that currently WhatsApp has not considered the option of blocking several contacts at once.
These two methods of blocking WhatsApp contacts are still under development, so they are not yet available for beta testers. It is not yet known when this feature will be released for all WhatsApp users.
